Henry Kuttner Part 3 1942-1943

If you missed the last part…

The team of Kuttner-Moore hit their stride in 1942, making most of their income writing fantastic literature. The authors alone and together were in virtually every issue of Astounding after August 1942. As Lewis Padgett, Henry Kuttner, C. L. Moore or Lawrence O’Donnell. they sometimes appeared twice in the same issue. This speaks to their talent though we must acknowledge that John W. Campbell was feeling the pinch for authors when most of his top ranked writers joined the war effort. (Asimov, de Camp, Heinlein, Hubbard and others.)

The Kuttners nicely filled that void. Sadly, Unknown Worlds would meet its end in 1943, cutting off the best market for Kuttner Fantasy. He/They wrote the first Gallagher stories at this time. This series would be reprinted heavily in SF anthologies.

Henry didn’t just write for JWC. He sold to a wide range of Pulps including Argosy, Thrilling Adventures, Thrilling Mystery, even a few to Weird Tales. It is during this time Henry began writing longer lead forThrilling Wonder Stories.
