Henry Kuttner Part 5 1946-1949

If you missed the last part…

The Kuttners finished out the 1940s with the best of Henry’s novels, Fury, The Valley of the Flame, The Time Axis and The Dark World. All of these would be reprinted as paperbacks in the 1950s. The couple also wrote the last crop of stories for Astounding and John W. Campbell. (Campbell would veer off into Dianetics in 1950. The Kuttners sold to Fantasy & Science Fiction, Galaxy and other magazines instead.) Their production is split between Lewis Padgett tales for ASF and filling just about every issue of Thrilling Wonder Stories for Sam Merwin Jr.As with all work after 1940, we can assume Catherine Moore Kuttner had some input on stories if not actual verbiage.  My favorite part of Henry’s bio for “Meet the Author” for The Dark World is where he mentions his favorite author is C. L. Moore. Many of the stories in this segment were illustrated by the couple’s best man, Virgil Finlay.
