This particular piece is highly subjective. I’m just going to say that now. We all like different things and my choices won’t be your choices. But, having said that, I hope to give reasons why I liked these stories the best. I have to say I haven’t read every Mythos story ever – who has? New ones are being written every day from top novelists like Stephen King to the lowest z-grade-quality fanzine or webzine. It just isn’t possible to read EVERYTHING. Still, I have read literally hundreds of them. (How about you?)
Also, I have not listed any stories by H. P. Lovecraft himself. Why? Because I could pick ten stories of his alone: such as “At the Mountains of Madness”, “Pickman’s Model”, “The Dreamquest of Unknown Kadath”, “The Shadow over Innsmouth”, etc., etc. This list won’t be about the Master but those who came afterward to continue with the great ideas he began.
