Pulp Cover Vampires

When people think of garish Horror and Suspense Pulp cover art they often arrive at the idea that there are many that have vampires on them. This doesn’t actual wash when you look carefully. Most vampire covers appeared on Weird Tales with just a sprinkling on other Pulps. (Strangely, no Jules de Grandin covers.) Of the literally thousands of Pulps produced between 1920 and 1954, there are only a few with a vampire bat, an actual vampire or someone who looks like vamp on the cover. And most often a male vampire looking something like Bela Lugosi. The sexy girl vamps were a later comic book feature with entire titles dedicated to such characters.

This last one is interesting because the woman is no longer the victim but the seducer, a lamia. This will become the norm as the comic books take over from the Pulps. The most famous of these is, of course, Vampirella.
