Dinosaurs were dropping like a meteor had hit the planet by the late 1960s. Star Spangled War Stories dropped them for Joe Kubert’s “Enemy Ace” series. Tarzan, one of Gold Key better dino comics, stopped using saurians and only did jungle stuff. (Fortunately DC would take over the comic soon.) Gold Key gave up The Flintstones to Charlton in 1970. Only Turok remained, being the dinosaur comic of the early 1970s. George Wilson was the man for dino covers at his time. Marvel made a small contribution with the creation of Sauron, the pterodactyl bad guy in Ka-Zar’s Savage Land.
