Artists of Sword & Sorcery: Frank Brunner (1949-)

Frank Brunner (1949-) got his start in the fanzines like Phase 1 (1971) with “Sword of Dragonus” and its sequel “Dragonus: the Wizard’s Venom” in Star*Reach #3 (October 1975). He worked for Warren too,  with “The Comet’s Curse” (Eerie #35, September 1971). Later Frank would draw for Marvel’s Howard the Duck #1-2 (January-March 1976), Red Sonja, and of course, Savage Sword of Conan #30, “The Scarlet Citadel” issue (June 1978), which also included a portfolio of Frank’s Bran Mak Morn art. Frank drew a special piece on Elric for Heavy Metal (September-December 1979) along with a portfolio of Elric art. He was also the original artist for the Warp comics #1-9 (March-December 1983). These days he is doing covers for Dynamite’s Red Sonja comics.
