Marvel Comics Salutes Canada!

Marvel Comics salutes Canada on this 154th Canada Day. I can still remember being a twelve year-old kid living in Dawson Creek, BC and opening a Hulk comic to find my hometown in one of the green guy’s adventures. I recall laughing my butt off at the log cabins, trapper outfits and Canadian sounding names. (We’ve all got used to “Logan Mackenzie”, didn’t we?) Still, it’s better than being ignored altogether. Just ask Uruguay.

Everybody lives in a cabin. And you have to wear red-check shirts as well.

The Mounties are the cops in Canada. And they still wear red and ride horses.

And of course, you’ll get attacked by wolves. It happens all the time. I am surprised anyone even comes to Canada because of the wolf attacks…

John Byrne, Todd MacFarlane, Gene Day, and Ken Steacy are all well-known Canadian Marvel Comics creators. Some other Canucks you might not know were Hal Foster of Prince Valiant fame as well as Joe Shuster who created Superman alongside Jerry Siegell (and whose cousin Frank was half of the famous Wayne & Shuster comedy team) and Win Mortimer who drew many DC comics as well.
