Manly Wade Wellman Part 3 (1944-1949)

If you miss Part 2…

The 1940s saw Wellman write many of his most famous pieces including the John Thunstone stories as well as “Sin’s Doorway”, seen by some of as the first Silver John story. John’s most famous enemies, the Shonikins also appear in both stories and comics. Wellman would branch out into new fields of writing with mysteries in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine as well as his first historical non-fiction, and juvenile fiction, three directions he would pursue fully in the 1950s and beyond.
